Why before the day

The wedding day goes fast. This doesn’t.

On the day itself there are perhaps twenty minutes for portraits, between the ceremony and the dinner. A pre-wedding photoshoot gives you an hour, or a whole day, with nowhere else to be.

It is the easiest way to get used to the camera before the wedding, to wear things you would never wear on the day — a flowing dress that fills half the frame — and to be photographed in the parts of Santorini your venue cannot give you: the lanes of Oia, the caldera path, the old village of Pyrgos.

We arrange the photographer, the dress and the transport through our concierge, and fit the session into your week so it never competes with the wedding.

Three ways to shoot

Pick the session that suits you.

From thirty minutes in a flying dress to a full day across the island.

Where to shoot

The island’s best backdrops, and when to catch them.

We suggest the spot for the light and the crowds on your day. A few of our favourites.

Oia

White houses, blue domes and windmills, and the most famous sunset on the island. Beautiful, and very busy at sunset — come at sunrise and you have the lanes almost to yourselves. Couples marrying at our Love Cave venue are already here.

Imerovigli & Firostefani

The caldera path from Fira to Imerovigli: cliff-edge views, the bell towers of Firostefani and Skaros Rock, with far fewer people than Oia.

Pyrgos

Our village, and home to Madame Sousou: a medieval hilltop of lanes and stairways in the middle of the island, with a view over all of Santorini — the sunset reaches it last.

Fira

The capital on the cliff edge, with caldera views from every terrace and the old port steps far below. Best early, before the cruise-ship crowds.

Amoudi Bay

Down the steps below Oia to the water: red cliffs, fishing boats and the sea at your feet — a quieter frame for the golden hour.

The south beaches

Black volcanic sand at Perissa and Perivolos, or the sculpted cliffs of Vlychada — a different Santorini from the caldera, best early in the day.

Good to know

Light, wind and what to wear.

When

The hour before sunset gives the softest light, and sunrise gives empty streets. Midday light is harsh and flat, so we avoid it.

Most couples shoot one or two days before the wedding rather than on the morning itself.

Wind & weather

Santorini is windy, especially in July and August when the meltemi blows — it helps a flying dress and challenges loose hair.

Bring pins, and something warm for after sunset.

What to wear

Light, flowing fabrics and soft colours work against white walls and blue domes — white, cream, pastels, terracotta.

Wear shoes you can walk in on cobbles and steps, and bring a second outfit for a longer session.

Questions

Pre-wedding photoshoots, answered.

What couples usually ask us before they book.

How much does a pre-wedding photoshoot cost in Santorini?

Our flying dress sessions are €200 (30 minutes, 10 edited photos), €300 (1 hour, 20 edited photos) and €450 (2 hours, 40 edited photos). Photo tours without a dress are €250 for one hour and €400 for two. Half-day and full-day sessions with a photographer are priced on request.

When should we schedule the photoshoot?

One or two days before the wedding, so it never competes with the day itself. Sunrise and the hour before sunset give the softest light; midday light in Santorini is harsh, so we avoid it.

Do we need to bring our own dress?

Not for a flying dress session — one or two dresses from the collection are included, and you can choose in advance from the flying dress catalogue. For a photo tour or a half- or full-day shoot, you wear your own outfits.

Can friends or family join the shoot?

Yes. The flying dress packages cover up to two people, and Santorini Moments can be two couples. The photo tours take up to 4–7 people, which makes them a good choice for family pictures before the wedding.

How many photos do we get, and can we use them anywhere?

Between 10 and 60 edited photos depending on the package, all the unedited photos on request, a short video for social media and unlimited usage rights — print them, post them, put them on your wedding website.

Is transport included?

Yes, in every package except Santorini Express, where we meet you at your hotel or at an agreed spot.

Where is the best place for a pre-wedding photoshoot in Santorini?

Oia for the classic white-and-blue pictures, ideally at sunrise before the crowds; the caldera path between Fira and Imerovigli for cliff views with fewer people; and Pyrgos for old lanes and a view over the whole island. We suggest the spot for the light and the time of day you choose.

Can we combine the photoshoot with a proposal?

Yes. We have set up proposals on the edge of the caldera with a photographer there for the moment — Esha & Akshay’s is one of them. Tell us it is a surprise when you write, and we will keep it that way.
